Played Saturday, 31 October 2026 (updated with new sources)

Niners Chemnitz secured their second season win in the BBL with a 94:78 victory over MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg on October 31. The home team, who had just 72 hours earlier defeated EuroCup titleholders Bourg-en-Bresse 96:77, dominated the game after a slow start. Nighael Ceaser led the Niners with 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Thomas Rutherford scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Ludwigsburg. The Niners’ second win of the season comes after a string of five losses in the BBL, but they have been more successful in the EuroCup and Netto BBL Cup, where they have won six of seven games. The team’s coach, Rodrigo Pastore, was able to distribute playing time evenly among his players, with seven of them scoring between 8 and 11 points in the game against Bourg-en-Bresse.

Rasta Vechta’s Unsung Heroes: Team Manager and Physiotherapist

Rasta Vechta’s professional basketball team relies not only on its players, but also on its dedicated support staff. Team Manager Max Plate, 20, is the team’s jack-of-all-trades, responsible for tasks such as preparing the locker room, receiving opponents, and even printing warm-up shirts. Plate has developed a pre-game ritual of hanging the players’ jerseys on wooden hangers, a superstition he believes brings him good luck. Meanwhile, Physiotherapist Beatriz Santos, 28, is responsible for taping the players’ ankles to prevent injuries. With a high level of precision, she bandages each player every five minutes, a task she has mastered over her three years with the team. Santos notes that working with professional athletes is particularly challenging due to their high expectations and need to perform at their best without injury.
